About the Position:
Position is primarily responsible for assisting the Director of Clinical Services in planning, coordinating, overseeing and evaluating the services provided by the Health and Wellness (H&W) Departments. Position functions in a nursing capacity and ensures clinical activities are performed according to departmental guidelines and all state and federal regulations.
Job Duties:
- Reviews staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage to meet residents' needs.
- Oversees and/or conducts training and orientation for newly hired Health & Wellness team members.
- Assesses the educational needs of the department or specific team members and provides in-service training and other educational programs, including daily coaching to nursing staff.
- Acts as a mentor and resource for H&W team members on departmental policies and procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Monitors and updates standards of nursing practice and departmental policies and procedures for compliance with regulatory requirements; offers recommendations for updates.
- Monitors EHR for quality and compliance with CMS regulations and standard nursing practice.
- Represents the Health and Wellness Department by interfacing with other departments, the community, educational institutions, residents, and residents’ family members.
- Conducts daily rounds across clinical areas to ensure departmental guidelines are followed.
- Provides clinical supervision and/or direct clinical care in nursing care delivery.
- Completes and/or contributes to performance appraisals as required.
- In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services, provides input to the Health & Wellness budget. Also assists in effectively implementing, monitoring and managing the budget and expenses.
- Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team on clinical concerns and recommendation, inter-departmental issues, violations of policies, safety and health hazards, staffing needs, and other related matters.
- Serves as acting Director of Clinical Services when needed. May also serve as Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or other related leadership capacities as requested, including Nurse on Call and Manager on Duty.
- Assists with quality improvement and risk management activities through completing and evaluating team member competencies, observing medication administration, tracking concerns, reviewing medical records, and monitoring accidents on an ongoing basis.
- In conjunction with Social Work, investigates resident, family, physician or team member concerns and takes necessary action to provide a resolution.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a current RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state.
- Valid CPR certification required.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in nursing with progressive supervisory experience required. Having the same in a long-term care environment is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be proficient in computer skills.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with others
